Post-Jam Update
A huge thank you to everyone who has played and reviewed the game!
We really enjoyed this game jam and decided to put together an improved version to release after the voting ends.
Yes, that is now and the new version is already live! Let us know what you think if you play the new version!
All changes are described below.
Gameplay
- Hand is now discarded before combat starts. A new hand of 5 cards is drawn after combat.
We noticed that it was really easy to end up with an empty hand, topdecking for the rest of the game.
Furthermore, you might have never seen the cards from your third booster pack, because they were buried under all the other cards.
Drawing just one card after combat didn't allow the player to go through their decks quickly enough. - Booster pack price change: 100 -> 50 + (50 * Number of boosters purchased)
Reaching the required amount of 100 Blood to purchase your first booster was rather slow and it played out the same in every game.
On the other hand, boosters felt incredibly cheap and abundant in the late game.
That is why we have decided to lower the price of the first booster but increase the booster price with each purchase. - The Siren no longer takes control of enemy units when she attacks them. Instead she heals them.
The Siren was not only bugged in the jam version, her effect also made her incredibly dangerous to play!
Each turn she would take control of a random enemy unit for one turn. Not only removing their weight from the other side of the scales, but also adding it to her side. The unlucky player would see their biggest unit switch sides, resulting in an immediate defeat.
The Siren's new effect - healing - is much more useful in terms of winning the game.
Bugfixes
- Fixed a bug that would spawn new units with physics attached, making them fall off screen immediately and completely breaking the game.
- Fixed a bug that would make units skip their attacks.
- Fixed the Gorgon's stun effect.
- Fixed a bug where the Hydra would not stop attacking until all of its enemies were dead.
- Fixed a bug that would break the shop screen when spamclicking the Buy button.
- Fixed a bug that would prevent playing the 'take damage' animation of a unit
Other Improvements
- Hand cards are now 'held' in a more natural way.
- The straight line, that appeared when dragging a cards, was replaced by a curved arrow.
- Clouds (main screen) and mist (shop screen) are now moving in the background!
- Units are now spaced out more evenly.
- Holding down Left Control will now show the UI of all units in play.
It is an imperfect solution, because all the panels get in the way of each other.
But it can still be useful for the player to get a quick overview.
