Ganbatte, Yam1d_San!
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas yam1d_san and merry Christmas to anyone else playing!
I was the secret santa for yam1d_san, who was asking for a 2D / web-based game. They named Nuclear Throne as one of their favourites, which is why I went with the top-down action roguelike formula. Yam1d-san loves anime and soon wants to go to med school - I tried to incorporate these things into the game.
Controls
The game supports keyboard/mouse and xbox-controller. The game might work with a different controller, although there is no guarantee for that and key bindings would likely be different.

Credits
I made this game alone. By that I mean I did the game design and programming by myself and I hand picked a lot of premade assets. A special shoutout goes to https://iknowkingrabbit.itch.io/, because almost all of the pixel art I used was made by them! https://chrislsound.itch.io also deserves a special mention, because 3/4 of the music I used are composed by them.

Great game! Everything adds up so well. The audio feedback for important events is really helpful, dialogs come with a nice humor, mechanic and gameplay are fluent - it totally catched me. Haven't made it to the school - got overwhelmed by a horde of enemies in one of the mid levels. Where is a Borsti when you really need one? :-D
Hey, thanks for playing and the nice feedback! :)
I think I'm going to make this into a Roguelite - permanent upgrades to choose from after each run. Because it is way too hard for the average player. I still want to offer a challenge for the gamerz though. Sadly, no Borsti ;P
What the duck is with these options from the starting chest?
Haha omg what are the odds of that 😆 note to self: no duplicates in chests with the next patch ^^'
Hey its your giftee! This is amazing, Thanks!
You need to make the game a bit easier tho lol, maybe add an ending if you haven't already.
Oh hey giftee, I'm glad you like it! :D
There is an ending after floor 9 but I don't think anyone but me has made it that far lol. I will probably release a patch in the future where I adjust the difficulty. Maybe offer the current difficulty as "Hard Mode" after beating the game for the first time. I'll let you know if that happens xD
very good game! There make be spiders!
Bruv this game goes haarrrd, items are fun and interesting + i absolutely loved the dialogue boxes, plus i love how mum is all worried and stuff meanwhile dad be like "Here's a sword, bring me a beer on your way back."
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! :D
Those spiders are vicious omg
My guy this is so dope. I hop you are proud of this. the writing is subtely funny, not too over the top and the gameplay is satisfying as hell, huge dopamine spike when upgrading the weapon and its fun to have the dual progression of itesm in chest then u can choose ur weapon too.
I really liked how you dealt with enamy attacks the visual telegraphing was really fun and I appreciated it. I did think that it was sometimes hard to tell if an attack as in it's wind up or damage stage especially with the jumping spiders.
Overall this is dope and your giftee is very lucky !
Thank you!
Might want to fix the bug where spam clicking the items in the chests lets you get multiple of them. 100+ damage on floor 1 is hilarious, especially when you soon after pair it with ~40 health that all regens every floor and nonsensical attack speed.
Hello there and thanks for reporting that bug!
I fixed it just now. Can't believe I never noticed...
