Kingscraft is a side-scrolling micro strategy game wrapped in a beautiful, hand-drawn art aesthetic.
Recruit loyal subjects, build your kingdom and protect it from your greedy opponents looking to defeat your kingdom and take over your crown.

Craft primitive tools from basic resources to spawn units gathering more resources with these tools.

To protect your gatherers from wild beasts and enemy troups, craft primitive weapons from basic resources. They spawn units going into battle with these weapons.

In certain places (ruins with a "Plus" button) you can build defense structures as well as buildings allowing you to craft more advanced tools and weapons.

You win the game when your units defeat all of your opponents as well as their base which is located on the opposite side of the map.

There is also a great Let's Play on YouTube recorded by Sahil showing how he plays the game.

Play our game almost completely with your mouse by clicking the "Plus" action buttons and choosing crafting recipes from the dialogs coming up. Move the cursor to the edge of screen (we highly recommend playing the game in fullscreen mode) to pan the camera.

With M you toggle the minimap.

You can also use A and D to pan the camera.

Fun game! My only issue was that I was playing this on mac and it got really laggy really fast.

Nice game.

The first time I played, I lost by a lot because I kept getting killed  by the hogs, and once I was in that cycle and the opponent was already getting copper and stuff it was impossible to catch up.

The second time, I actually won by accident.

I always liked Age of War so I liked this game too.

"My kingdom grew strong, i name this land now the Kingdom of LoFi."

- King LoFi the I

But damn this game is fun, gameplay is highly functional and intuitive, the art *mwah (chefs kiss) beautifull and full of personality, really brings the game to a certain level of life where you can imagine  your kingdom made of those little characters, music is top notch, gives those "Once upon a time..." vibes, really set the mood for my little war.

Congratulations to the whole team y'all did a awesome work!

thank you, glad you enjoyed it :)

Oh my, it's such a nice game. Good thought on making it vertical, with enemy on the other side. I played throught it and won the war. Wish adjusting the balance a little bit as I managed to use just 10 shield guys to beat the other side :D

This was a really solid game, and one of the best in this jam! Its not the most unique but it was very well executed. The main complaints I have are relatively small QoL things like now being able to snap to a position on the map (As far as I could find). Great job!

Thank you! :) You can show the minimap by pressing M and click where you want to go on the map.

Neat game! Even though it was short and sweet, there was a good amount of units and buildings to utilize. I did quickly get to a point where I just created a bunch of units at once and they overpowered the enemy, to the point where I won when I wasn’t even looking! Regardless, I’d love to see an expanded version of this! Great work on this!

Thanks Sahil for sharing your recording :-) Watching it right in this moment. I was linking it in the "How To Play" section above because it fits so perfectly and will help others. Is this okay with you?

Sure! You can link the video!

I don't know what to call them,  so for the sake of simplicity I will refer to them as "Scrundlekins" because why not

Anyway, this game is incredibly charming. Right off the bat, the art style is this perfect blending of cartoon and fantasy, that while being paired with the music (that sounds so good, very reminiscent of Sid Meyer's Civilization), just sucks you right in.

When it booted up, my cursor was on the side of the screen, so it panned halfway across the map, but I panned it back once I figured out what I was doing and got to work producing my scrundlekins. It was a nice difficulty curve because it felt challenging, while being forgiving. I had plenty of time to realize that I just needed to make more scrundlekins and the returns of goods would increase exponentially.

It was pretty surprising though, to scroll across the screen more than I had been and find out there are rival scrundlekins and this is a war, I just thought there was like an end point after waves of hogs, haha. But that upped the ante just that much more.

I saw the unreachable unlockables btw devs. This is your encouragement to continue. Seriously, this has so much potential and marketability. I'm here begging for a difficulty setting, because I beat the game before I even got any sword troops. Like, I just had a boatload of leather and wood so I sent out two waves of shield scrundlekins - full on Roman Phalanx style (and it was awesome) - and they just steamrolled the enemy base.

Again, it's just so damn charming. It scratches an itch I have to constantly be playing Civilization V, but it takes it down to a simpler level that's short form (read: not 5+ hours per campaign) and accessible. Devs, please continue with this. I want so bad to catapult-nuke the enemy scrundlekins. Congrats on the jam, and cheers!

Edit: I meant to say, but if y'all ever make an android build I would seriously pay for it; it's like, perfect for mobile
